Cabled Crossroads Socks

These gorgeous, variegated top-down socks feature a cluster of cables along the sides which can be modified to adjust the height of the socks. Customize the length and style of your socks by playing with the number of cable repeats.

Skill Level: Advanced

Size:  XXS, XS S (M, L, XL)

Gauge: 36 sts and 45 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking

Materials

Yarn:

Super Fine Weight Yarn Life in the Long Grass Semi- Solid Sock /4ply; (100% merino; 450 yards [417 meters]/100 grams): Greenstone (1 (1, 1, 1, 2, 2) skein(s))
While 1 skein is plenty for small and medium, it is just enough for the large size. It would be prudent to have extra yarn if knitting the larger sizes to allow for variations in knitting style and therefore yardage.

Notions: 4 Markers, tapestry needle, yarn holder or extra needle

Pattern Notes

The socks are worked in the round from the top down, staring with a double rib before merging in to the cable design which incorporates closed loop. The socks can be ankle height, with one cable repeat or longer with 2, 3, or even more. The ribbing continues along the length of the sock for comfort and stretch before continuing into a ribbed heel, ribbed foot and shaped gusset and finishing with a grafted toe.
