Checkerboard Pullover

This chic pullover is a top down raglan with a retro twist. A deep woven portrait collar and striped sleeves provide visual interest.

Skill Level: Intermediate

1-3” of positive ease recommended.

Materials

Yarn:

Bulky Weight Yarn Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky (100% Peruvian Highland Wool; 137 yards [125 meters]/100 grams): 24270 Coal (MC), 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6) hanks; 23856 Bare (CC), 1 hank.

Needles: US size 10 (6 mm): 29” circular needle and DPNS; US 10.5 (6.5mm): DPNS. If necessary, adjust needle size to obtain gauge.

Notions: Markers; scrap yarn or stitch holders; spare DPNS.

Abbreviations

M1L (make 1 left) – With left needle, lift strand between needles from front to back, knit lifted loop through the back to twist stitch (left leaning increase).

Pattern Notes

Raglan is worked from the top down. The front neck is shaped by CO sts at the end of each row before joining to work in the rnd. The yoke is shaped with raglan increases and then the body increases and sleeve increases are worked at differing rates according to size. When the yoke is completed, the sleeve sts are placed on scrap yarn and the body is worked in the rnd and shaped with body darts. Sleeves are worked top down in the rnd. The bi-colored collar is picked up from the neck opening and worked in the rnd from the bottom up.
