Candy Apple Cable Scarf

Try your hand at this cabled scarf for a cozy accessory to wear all season. This textured scarf features garter cable and slipped stitches. The cable and rib pattern can be worked from the text or chart.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: 7” [18 cm] wide and 67½” [171.5 cm] long, lightly blocked.

Gauge: One 34 st-Cable Rep = 7” [18 cm] wide and 3¼” [8 cm] high, lightly blocked.

Materials

Yarn:

Medium Weight Yarn Knit Picks Preciosa Tonal (100% Merino Wool; 273 yards [249 meters]/100 grams): boysenberry, 2 hanks.

Needle: US size 9 (5.5 mm): straight or circular needles. Adjust needle size if needed to obtain stitch and row gauge.

Notions: Cable needle; markers; tapestry needle

Abbreviations

3/3 RC  slip 3 stitches to cn, hold in back; k3, k3 from cn

k below  slip right needle under strand, k1, pass strand over stitch

wyif   with yarn in front

Pattern Notes

Scarf is worked in the back and forth from the bottom up.

Slip sts purlwise.

Chart is worked flat with the odd (RS) rows are read right to left and the even (WS) rows, left to right.
