Gauge: 22 sts and 32 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking
Yarn: Tukuwool DK (75% Finn, 25% Texel; 273 yards [250 meters]/100 grams]: 28 Taate (2 hanks)
Needles: US 5 (3.75 mm) and 6 (4.0 mm) double pointed needles or circular needle for magic loop technique.
Notions: Three markers, tapestry needle.
Rnd 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to the end of rnd.
Stretchy Bind Off
- Knit two sts.
- Insert the left-hand needle into the two sts through the front and knit the sts together.
- Knit one st.
Repeat steps 2-3 until you have on st left, cut yarn and pull it through the last st.
The leg warmers are worked in the round from the bottom up.
With smaller needles and using longtail Cast On, CO 60 (70) sts. Pm for beg of rnd and join to work in the rnd.
Work in 1×1 Ribbing until piece measures 1.5” [4 cm] from CO edge.
Change to larger needles.
On the first rnd Pm as follows:
Right leg: K16 (19), Pm, k30 (35), Pm, k to end of the rnd.
Left leg: K3 (5), Pm, k30 (35), Pm, k to end of the rnd.
Rnds 1-4: K all sts.
Rnd 5: [K to m, Sm, k2tog x 2, (yo, k1) x 3, yo, ssk x 2] x 2, k to end of rnd.
Rnd 6: P all sts.
Work Rnds 1-6 twenty times more or until leg warmer is desired length.
Knit one rnd.
Work in 1×1 Ribbing for 1.5” [4 cm].
BO all sts knitwise using Stretchy Bind Off.
Weave in ends. Place the leg warmers in lukewarm water and let it soak thoroughly. Gently squeeze out the excess water. Place on a towel and roll to remove further moisture. Lay on flat surface and let dry completely.
