August 2023: Table of Contents

Summer is in full swing, but before we know it, we’ll be swapping iced lemonades for hot ciders and warm cardigans for tanks and tees — it’s that in-between-seasons period, where the days are hot but the nights are cool. This new issue is packed with weather friendly patterns fit for finnicky weather; plus plenty of new projects for the fall season ahead. Start with the layered to perfection section featuring five beautiful designs to enhance your existing wardrobe (legwarmers, a lightweight sweater dress, a new sweater and more). Next, explore some august-to-autumn pieces that will take you effortlessly from hot and humid to cool and cozy. The Margo Mini Dress is the perfect piece to start knitting now; it’s easily layered with a long-sleeve blouse for cooler weather and features gorgeous details (including a square neckline and cabled front panel). The Avalon Patchwork Tote is the ideal accessory for any season, but especially useful in the fall. It’s roomy interior is the perfect place to stuff all your favorite reads while you finish your current WIP at a local coffee shop. And finally, the Golden Moments section features some of my favorites: the Maude Poncho (almost like a lightweight sweater) and Rosaura Raglan Sweater. Each project is timeless and destined to make its way into your regular clothing rotation.

Plus, don’t miss the incredible Watercolor Pillow, where you can dip your toes into planned pooling with a simple project that’s rich in color and texture. No two pillows will ever be the same! We’d love to see your creations.

Happy knitting,

Margot is a sleeveless mini dress with a square neckline, which can be layered for fall with a white shirt. The dress features a cable panel in the front, high waistline with the cable belt and folded edge hem. The design of the cables on the front is reminiscent of entwined tree roots in a forest. Dip your toes into planned pooling with this easy throw pillow project. Worked in one piece, with seamless grafted edges and a sprinkling of textured purl stitches, the result is reminiscent of swatches of painted colors on a canvas and like an artist’s watercolor: no two pieces will ever be the same! Lorena comes in an easy-to-wear silhouette, with loose, relaxed fit and modified drop shoulder sleeves. The hems and wide V-neck border are worked in single ribbing, with different stripes patterns. An easy pattern of knit, purl and slip sts gives a light texture to the garment, making it more interesting. Read More
