How to Duplicate Stitch

Each square of the chart represents one V-shape duplicate stitch.
Thread yarn needle with one strand of yarn.
Starting at lower right, locate the “V” that the first stitch will cover and come up from wrong
side at base of the “V”. Insert needle from right to left through base of “V” directly above.
Go back through the base of “V” at same point as you first came up and up at base of next “V”. First duplicate stitch is completed.
Continue working from right to left across row.
Move up to your second row of and work left side of “V”.
Continue working from left to right. Secure the beginning tail by working over it as you do the duplicate stitching. When ending, run the needle under the back of several completed stitches, then return in the other direction to secure.

Pattern Notes

Hat is worked in rounds, beginning at the lower edge.
