Row 18: K5, p3.
Repeat edging rows 1-18 until you reach the end of the top of the blanket. For the rest of the blanket, you will continue to work as written but you will replace each of the k2tog stitches at the end of the right side rows with this: slip 1 stitch, pick up stitch along edge of the blanket, knit those two stitches together, turn.
NOTE: The stitches you pick up along the edge of the blanket should be every other stitch.

Finishing

When you reach the edge of the blanket, you should have some extra rows to complete one whole repeat of the edging. Complete those rows omitting the k2tog stitches at the end of the right side rows and just doing a knit 1 instead. The wrong side rows should be worked as written. Work until you reach row 18 of the edging. Bind off all stitches and leave a tail for seaming.
Stitch the beginning leaf to the end leaf and join them at the corner of the blanket. Weave in all ends.
Block the blanket, taking care to flatten the leaves and pin the tips so they create a nice decorative edge.
