Sea Salt Shawl

This soft and airy asymmetrical shawl is the perfect companion to the beach on any warm summer day. Its repetitive design is a breeze to work up and ideal for any knitter who is new to lace knitting or any experienced knitter that is looking for an easy, on-the-go pattern.    

Skill Level: Easy

Size: 60” by 48” (relaxed, after blocking)

Gauge: 20 sts and 24 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking

Materials

Super fine weight yarnYarn: Knit Picks Lindy Chain (70% Linen, 30% Pima cotton; 180 yards [165 meters]/50 grams): Color U794 Clarity (3 balls)

Needles: US size 3 (3.25 mm) circular.

Notions: Tapestry needle.

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked in rows. It presents one stitch increase every other row.

Simple pattern repeat allows for the size to be easily adjusted by working less or more rows than the pattern calls for.

Large circular needle is needed to accommodate a large number of stitches, pattern is not worked in rounds.

CO 3 sts.
Row 1 (WS): Knit

Row 2 (RS): K1, kfb, k1. (4 sts)

Row 3: Knit

Row 4: Knit to last 2 sts, kfb, k1. (5 sts)

Row 5: Knit

Row 6: K2, yo, k2tog, yo, k1. (6 sts)

Row 7: Knit

Row 8: K1, (yo, k2tog) twice, yo, k1. (7 sts)

Row 9: Knit.

Row 10: Knit to last 2 sts, kfb, k1. (8 sts)

Row 11: Knit.

Row 12: Knit to last 2 sts, kfb, k1. (9 sts)

Row 13: Knit.

Row 14: K2, *yo, k2tog; rep from * to last st, yo, k1. (10 sts)

Row 15: Knit.

Row 16: K1, *yo, k2tog; rep from * to last st, yo, k1. (11 sts)

Row 17: Knit.

Rows 18-345: Rep Rows 10-17. (175 sts)

BO all sts.

Finishing

Gently wet block. Weave in all ends.
