Picot BO

Cable CO 2 stitches. Knit 2, *pass first stitch over second stitch; rep from * 3 more times (4 times total). Slip last stitch back to left needle. Then work the following for the remainder of the stitches to be bound off: knit 2, *pass first stitch over second stitch; rep from * 3 more times (4 times total). Slip last stitch back to left needle.

Pattern Notes

The shawl is worked flat. Begun with a hexagonal-shaped, garter stitch core, the pineapple section of the shawl is incorporated by picking up stitches in a selvedge edge. A special pineapple stitch is worked throughout this section before finishing with a textural, picot bind off.

This Pineapple Stitch motif is worked over 12 sts and 4 rows, using a combination of knit and purl stitches, stitches elongated in a special way, and a bauble-stitch inspired short-row technique. The third row of the pattern repeat is worked using short rows, not unlike a bauble stitch.
