Let the sun shine down with this fun shawl that’s as fun to wear as it is to make. Self-striping yarn creates interest without the hassle of changing colors.

This shawl is worked in one piece from the top down. Section 1 is worked sideways and is shaped with short-rows. Section 2 is worked downward from the side of Section 1. Section 3 is worked as a knit-on edging to Section 2.

With RS facing, B, and one st on needle, pick up and k103 sts along curved portion of Section 1; 1 st for every Garter st ridge. (2 sts along each B stripe and 15 sts in between each B stripe). Knit a WS row.

Inc Row (RS): K4, (m1, k7, m1, k8) 6 times, m1, k7, m1, k3. (14 sts inc’d; 118 sts)

Work Rows 1-36 of Sunray chart. Each row will be repeated 19 times across each row.

Break B and C. With D, knit 5 rows.

Section 3

Note: The following cast-on stitches will be joined to the live stitches from Section 2 at the end of every WS row.

CO 24 sts using the knitted method.

Row 1 (WS): With D, k23, k2tog, turn.

Row 2 (RS): With D, k24.

Row 3: With D, k23, k2tog, turn.

Row 4: With E, k24.

Row 5: With E, k23, k2tog, turn.

Row 6: With E, k24.

Row 7: With E, k18, wrap next st and turn.
