Construction Details

Lotus is a rectangular lace shawl. It consists of rectangular main body and two lace edges- all worked separately and then grafted together. Main body of shawl is worked flat in Lotus lace pattern after casting on required number of stitches. All the stitches are bound off after working the desired number of repeats. Lace edges are worked in Leaf lace pattern next. All the pieces are blocked ensuring that the lace edge length is the same as shawl width. Lace edges are grafted to shorter sides of the shawl.

Pattern Notes

Take time to check the gauge to ensure the final size of shawl is as desired.
Size of the shawl can be altered by changing the number of pattern repeats. Width can be changed by altering the number of cast on stitches, length can be changed by altering the number of Lotus pattern row repeats.
Leaf Lace rows are repeated 10 times so that it can be grafted easily. Please note that the number of Leaf Lace repeats will change if you are changing the number of cast on stitches for main body.
Stitch count remains the same while working on the main body but it changes for each row when working on the lace edge.
Ensure to match main body width to that of lace edge length to avoid difficulties during grafting.
