Welcome transitional weather with the Cabana Stripe Skinny Scarf. This multi-season piece combines the skinny-scarf trend with bold diagonal stripes. The design was inspired by beach-cabana fabrics, adding a touch of summer at any time! Worked end-to-end in basic intarsia with slip stitch edges, it can be left with rolled edges or blocked out for more width.

Needles: US size 5 / 3.75 mm, 9” straight or 16” circular needles
Notions: Markers (optional), tapestry needle
Abbreviations

Special Stitches
All slipped stitches are slipped purlwise (except in an SSK – see below). On RS, slip with yarn in back; on WS, slip with yarn in front.
On the wrong side, all yarnover stitches from the previous row are purled through the back loop.
When adding a new color at the beginning of a row, just begin working with it. When you need to resume working with the next color, work an intarsia join as explained below and capture the new yarn tail as well as the working strand.
Intarsia joins are worked by bringing the new working color under the previous color.
SSK decreases are worked as slip 1 knitwise, slip 1 purlwise, then knit those two stitches together through the back loop.
Pattern Notes
This pattern is worked flat from end to end.
You will need to wind two balls from each skein, or use your favorite method for working with intarsia bobbins. If winding balls, they do not need to be the same size.
The slipstitch edges create a faux i-cord effect. They will curl under as you work. The edges can be left that way for a very skinny scarf or flattened during blocking.
To continue the visual center line of the increase and decrease sections, the center stitches change in the middle of the piece.

Finishing
Weave in ends. Block out to measure 4” across and approx 78” long. (Sample was sprayed to dampen and pinned out, RS up, to flatten edges.) Note: Blocking measurements are not final dimensions. The piece will roll in slightly widthwise after blocking flat; 4” pinned width will be c. 3.5” after blocking. It will also be slightly shorter.
