Teagan Entrelac Infinity Scarf + Swatch

Teagan is a bold infinity scarf worked in entrelac. Each row of squares is worked in a different color making the scarf versatile for a variety of outfits.

Skill Level: Easy

Size: 8″ finished width x 66″ circumference

Gauge: 26 sts and 32 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking

Materials

Fine weight yarnYarn: Kraemer Yarns Perfection (70% Acrylic, 30% Merino Wool; 400 yards [366 meters]/100 grams): 3338 Jelly (MC, 1 ball), 3344 Butter Cream (CC1, 1 ball), 3313 Valentine (CC2, 1 ball), 3305 Tweet (CC3, 1 ball)

Needles: US size 3 (3.25 mm) 24” circular

Notions: Markers, tapestry needle, US size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook

Pattern Notes

To increase, work k1fb (knit in front and back of the same st)

Special Stitches

Step 1

Base Triangles

Row 1 (WS): P2, turn.

Row 2: K2, turn.

Row 3: P2, p first st on LH needle, turn.

Row 4: K3, turn.

Row 5: P3, p first st on LH needle, turn.

Row 6: K4, turn.

Cont in est patt until there are 15 sts on RH needle on the purl row. DO NOT TURN. Leave these sts on needle and start from Row 1 to make the next triangle.

Cont until all sts are knit.

Step 2

Side Triangle 1

Turn work.

Row 1: K2, turn.

Row 2: P2, turn.

Row 3: Inc into first st, ssk, turn.

Row 4: P3, turn.

Row 5: Inc into first st, k1, ssk, turn.

Row 6: P4, turn.

Row 7: Inc into first st, k2, ssk, turn.

Cont until 15 sts are on RH needle. DO NOT TURN.

Rectangle 1

Pick up and knit 15 sts along 2nd side of the same triangle, top to bottom, turn.

Row 2: P15, turn.

Row 3: K14, ssk, turn.

Rep these two rows, decreasing, until all sts from 2nd base triangle are worked.

Rectangle 2 and all other rectangles

Work same as first rectangle, working on the 2nd side of the 2nd triangle.

Cont same way until all rectangles are made.

Side Triangle 2

Pick up and knit 15 sts from 2nd side of the last rectangle, turn.

Row 1: P2tog, p13, turn.

Row 2: K14, turn.

Row 3: P2tog, p12, turn.

Cont until 1 st rem from the triangle. DO NOT TURN.

Pick up and purl 14 sts from the triangle just made, turn. (15 sts on needle)

Step 3

Pick up and purl 15 sts at the side of the next triangle or rectangle, turn.

Rectangles worked on the WS

Row 1: K15, turn.

Row 2: P14, p2tog, turn.

Cont the same way until all sts from first rectangle are knit.

Rep Steps 2, 3 for patt.

Step 4

Pick up and purl 15 sts along the next rectangle, turn. (16 sts on needle)

*Row 1: K14, ssk, turn.

Row 2: P14, p2tog, turn.

Row 3: K13, ssk, turn.

Row 4: P13, p2tog, turn.

Row 5: K12, ssk, turn.

Row 6: P12, p2tog, turn.

Cont until 2 sts rem on needle.

Last Row: Ssk. DO NOT TURN. Pick up 15 sts along next rectangle; rep from * until all rectangles are bound off.

Swatch

With MC, CO 45 sts and work Step 1.

When starting to work on Step 2, switch to CC1.

Work Step 3 with CC2, then switch CC3 to work Step 2 again.

For Step 4, switch to MC, finish the work.

Pattern Notes

Entrelac is worked in steps. If you would like to have a wider cowl, repeat Steps 2-3 to get the desired width.

Cowl Pattern

With MC, CO 270 sts.

Work 8 rows (4 ridges) of garter stitch.

Work Step 1 with MC.

When starting to work on Step 2, switch to CC1.

Work Step 3 with CC2, then switch to CC3 to work Step 2 again.

For Step 4, switch to MC.

After finishing Step 4, with MC, pick up and knit 270 sts.

Work 8 rows of garter stitch.

BO all sts loosely.

Finishing

Fold piece length-wise.

Sew the seam on the fold.

Weave in the ends. Block cowl to size.
