Madison Bluewash Cowl

Madison uses knits, purls and two-stitch twists in an all-over texture that you’ll love. No cables or cable needle necessary to create this beautiful piece! Although the texture looks complicated, the pattern repeat is easy to work.

Size: About 38” [97 cm] around x 7” [18 cm] tall

Gauge: 22 sts and 24 rows = 4″ [10 cm] in Pattern Repeat

Materials

Yarn: Rowan Denim Revive (95% Cotton, 5% Other Fibers; 109 yards [100 meters]/50 grams): 211 Bluewash (3 balls)

Needles: US size 5 (3.75 mm) 24” [60 cm] circular

Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch marker (1)

Special Stitches

Pattern Repeat (worked over a multiple of 10 sts)

Rnd 1: Knit.

Rnd 2: *P4, k2, p4; rep from * to end.

Rnd 3: *P3, 1/1 RC, 1/1 LC, p3; rep from * to end.

Rnd 4: Knit.

Rep Rnds 1-4 for patt.

1/1 LC: Knit into back of 2nd st on needle, knit first st as normal st, slip both sts off needle at the same time.

1/1 RC: Knit into front of 2nd st on needle, knit first st as normal st, slip both sts off needle at the same time.

Pattern

CO 212 sts. Place marker, join in the rnd being careful not to twist.

Beginning Ribbing

Rnds 1-7: *K2, p2; rep from * to end.

Rnd 8 (Dec): K2tog, k100, k2tog, knit to end. (2 sts dec’d, 210 sts)

Rnd 9: Knit.

Rnds 10-33: Work Pattern Repeat Rnds 1-4.

Rnd 34 (Inc): M1, k100, m1, knit to end. (2 sts inc’d, 212 sts) 

Ending Ribbing

Rnds 35-41: *K2, p2; rep from * to end.

Loosely BO all sts.

Finishing

Weave in ends.

Wash and block as desired.
