Gauge: 14 sts and 16 rows = 4” [10 cm] in K1,P1 Ribbing, measured unstretched

Materials

Yarn: Cascade Yarn Lana Grande (100% Peruvian Highland Wool; 87.5 yards [80 meters]/100 grams): 6065 Silver Grey (2 (2, 2, 2, 2, 2) balls)

Needles: US size 11 (8.0 mm) 24” circular, US size 11 (8.0 mm) DPNs

Notions: Stitch marker, tapestry needle, pompom maker (optional)

Main Section

CO 48 (52, 60, 64, 68, 72) sts.

Ribbing Rnd: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of rnd.

Rep Ribbing Rnd until work meas (7 (7, 8, 9, 9.5, 10.5)” from cast on edge.

Decrease Section

Rnd 1: *K2tog, k1, p1; rep from * to end of rnd. (36 (39, 45, 48, 51, 54) sts)

Rnd 2: *K2tog, p1; rep from * to end of rnd. (24 (26, 30, 32, 34, 36) sts)

Rnd 3: *K2tog; rep from * to end of rnd. (12 (13, 15, 16, 17, 18) sts)

Break yarn, leaving a 12” tail. Draw tail through remaining sts, pull tight and weave in ends.

Finishing

Weave in ends.

Fold bottom of ribbing up 1.5 (1.5, 1.5, 1.75, 1.75, 1.75)” to make brim, tack in place if desired.

Make pompom using desired method, secure to top. The pompom in the photo used about half a ball of yarn.
