Caught Your Eyelet Top

This beautiful tank top has an easy, eyelet-lace edging paired with a classic stockinette stitch body. It’s the perfect grown-up version of baby’s Sunday Best outfit! Dress it up or down depending on the setting. Either way, you’re bound to fall in love with its roomy, round neckline finished with a neat, I-cord edging and attractive lace trim.

Special Stitches

I-cord

  1. Slide all sts to the other end of the needle.
  2. Hold yarn in back and knit all 4 sts.
  3. Rep Steps 1-2 until the I-cord meas approx. 20″.

Applied I-cord

  1. With right-hand needle, insert under both legs of the edge st of knitted piece and pick up 1 st.
  2. Slip the last st of I-cord over the st just picked up.
  3. Move all sts to the other end of needle and knit across all sts as regular I-cord.
  4. Rep Steps 1-3.

Row 1: *K1, yo, k6, sk2p, k6, yo; rep from *, ending with k1.

Row 2 and all even numbered rows: Purl.

Row 3: *K2, yo, k5, sk2p, k5, yo, k1; rep from *, ending with k1.

Row 5: *K1, yo, ssk, yo, k4, sk2p, k4, yo, k2tog, yo; rep from *, ending with k1.

Row 7: *K2, yo, ssk, yo, k3, sk2p, k3, yo, k2tog, yo, k1; rep from *, ending with k1.

Work 6 rows of Garter st.

Switch to Pattern Stitch and work Rows 1-18 once.

Switch to St st and work until piece meas 18″.

Armhole

With RS facing, BO 4 (4, 5, 5, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows. (89 (105, 119, 135, 149) sts)

BO 3 (3, 4, 4, 5) sts at beg of next 2 rows. (83 (99, 111, 127, 139) sts)

BO 2 (2, 3, 3, 4) sts at beg of next 2 rows. (79 (95, 105, 121, 131) sts)

BO 1 (1, 2, 2, 3) sts at beg of next 2 rows. (77 (93, 101, 117, 125) sts)

BO 0 (0, 1, 1, 2) sts at beg of next 2 rows. (77 (93, 99, 115, 121) sts)

Neckline

With RS facing, k26 (34, 34, 42, 43). Attach another piece of yarn and BO next 25 (25, 31, 31, 35) sts, k26 (34, 34, 42, 43).

Work both sides at the same time.

Decrease 1 st from the neck side every other row until all sts are bound off.

Front

Work same as Back.

Finishing

Sew side seams.

Armhole

With DPNs and RS facing, CO 4 sts and work Applied I-cord along the edge of armholes.

BO all sts loosely.

Back Neckline

With DPNs, CO 4 sts.

Work I-cord for 20″.

Hold the RS of Back facing you and work Applied I-cord at the edge of Neckline.

Continue working the I-cord for 20″ more.

BO all sts.

Front Neckline

Work same as Back Neckline.

Weave in all ends.

Block top to size.
