Chai Latte Pullover

Knit from the bottom up, this pullover is a keeper. With a color similar to a warm chai latte, it’s the cozy sweater you need to knit this winter. The sleeves allow movement and airflow so you won’t be overly warm indoors.

Yarn:

Medium Weight Yarn Sweet Georgia Trinity Worsted (70% Superwash Merino, 20% Cashmere, 10% Silk; 200 yards [183 meters]/100 grams): Birch, 6 (7, 7, 8, 8) skeins.

Needles: US size 6 (4 mm): 32” circular and set of DPNs; US size 7 (4.5 mm): 32” circular and set of DPNs

Notions: Stitch markers; tapestry needle

Collar Shaping

Work in Garter Stitch for 4½”, ending on a WS row.

Back Neck Shaping

Next Row: K22 (23, 26, 30, 34), k2tog, k1, turn – 1 st dec’d; 24 (25, 28, 32, 36) sts.

Next Row: Knit.
Next Row: K21 (22, 25, 29, 33), k2tog, k1, turn – 1 st dec’d; 23 (24, 27, 31, 35) sts.

Work in Garter Stitch for 5 rows more or until Back right shoulder meas 6½ (7, 7½, 8, 8½)” from m.

Place shoulder stitches on waste yarn.

Slip center 28 (36, 40, 42, 44) sts onto waste yarn, join yarn, k1, ssk, k to end.

Next Row (WS): Knit.
Dec Row: K1, ssk, k to end – 1 st dec’d; 23 (24, 27, 31, 35) sts.

Work in Garter Stitch for 5 rows more or until Back right shoulder meas 6½ (7, 7½, 8, 8½)” from m.

Join Shoulders

Turn sweater inside out.

Place right front shoulder stitches onto DPN.

Place right back shoulder stitches onto DPN.

Use 3-needle bind-off to join shoulders.

Rep for left shoulder.

Sleeves

With smaller needle and beginning at bound off sts at underarm, pick up 62 (68, 74, 80, 88) sts around armhole, pm.

Next Rnd: K5 (8, 11, 5, 9), pm, work from Sleeve Chart over next 54 (54, 54, 70, 70) sts, 3 (3, 3, 4, 4) times around, pm, k to end.

Work in est patt for 9 (7, 5, 5, 4) rnds.

Dec Rnd: K1, k2tog, work as est to 3 sts from end of rnd, ssk, k1 – 2 sts dec’d; 60 (66, 72, 78, 86) sts.

Rep Dec rnd every 10 (8, 6, 6, 5) rnds 9 (12, 15, 16, 20) more times – 18 (24, 30, 32, 40) sts decd; 42 (42, 42, 46, 46) sts.

Note: As sleeve sts decrease, maintain lace pattern as best you can, working first and last sts in St st.

Sleeve should meas approximately 15½ (15½, 15½, 16, 16½)” after all decreases.

Work in K1 tbl, P1 Ribbing for 2”.

With larger needle, BO all sts loosely in patt.

Rep for second sleeve.

Collar

With smaller needles and beg at right shoulder, pick up 1 st for every bound off st and 1 st for every 2 garter rows around collar. Exact st count is not necessary.

Beginning with a purl rnd, work in Garter Stitch for 3 rnds.

With larger needles, BO all sts loosely.

Finishing

Weave in ends.
