Island Fern Lace Scarf

Both sides of this scarf are equally charming. The lace pattern is easy to work up for a quick knit scarf to wear on summer nights.

Size: Width = 7″ / [43 cm] width x 76″ / [193 cm] length

Gauge: 22 sts and 26 rows = 4” [10 cm] in pattern after wet blocking

Fine weight yarnYarn: Plymouth Yarns Yakima (85% Fine Superwash Merino Wool, 15% Yak; 384 yards [351 meters]/100 grams): #208 Pine (1 ball)

Needles: US size 5 (3.75 mm) 24” straight

Pattern

CO 38 sts.

Rows 1-8: Sl1pp, knit.

Start lace pattern (chart).

Row 1: Sl1pp, k2, yo, (ssk, p5, k2tog, yo, k1, yo) 3 times, end with ssk, k3.

Row 2 and all even numbered rows: Sl1pp, k2, knit the knits, purl the purls and yarn overs until last 3 sts, k3.

Row 3: Sl1pp, k3, (yo, ssk, p3, k2tog, yo, k3) 3 times, end with k4.

Row 5: Sl1pp, k3, (k1, yo, ssk, p1, k2tog, yo, k4) 3 times, end with k4.

Row 7: Sl1pp, k2, k2tog, (yo, k1, yo, ssk, p5, k2tog) 3 times, end with yo, k3.

Row 9: Sl1pp, k3, (k3, yo, ssk, p3, k2tog, yo) 3 times, end with k4.
