Use 2 strands of yarn held together throughout project.

With circular needle and 2 strands of yarn held tog, CO 80 (84, 88) sts.
Join without twisting, placing marker between first and last st.
Ribbing Rnd: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of rnd.
Work 7 more rnds.
Mistake Rib Stitch
Rnd 1: *K1, p3; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 2: K2, *p1, k3; rep from * to last 2 sts, p1, k1.
Rep Rnds 1-2 until hat meas 8 (8.5, 9)”.
Change to DPNs.
Shape Crown
Rnd 1: *Ssk, p2tog; rep from * to end of rnd. (40 (42, 44) sts)
Rnds 2-3: *K1 p1; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 4: *Ssk; rep from * to end of rnd. (20 (21, 22) sts)
Rnd 5: Knit.
Rnd 6: K0 (1, 0), *k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd. (10 (11, 11) sts)
Rnd 7: K0 (1, 1), *k2tog; rep from * 5 times. (5 (6, 6) sts)
Cut yarn and draw through rem sts twice.
Finishing
Take yarn to WS and weave in end.
No blocking needed.

I remembered having to check on that when I did this pattern. This was a top Wiki answer – KO in knitting means “Knit Over” or, in other words, pass one knit stitch over the next.Aug 22, 2016
I think Line 6 means K either none or 1 or none depending on the size you are knitting
Line 7 means K none or 1 or 1 depending on the size you are knitting. Because the K0 isn’t in ( ) in the pattern, and the K0 is a “knit zero” instead of a capital o. HTH

Hi Nicola … it is the instructions of the different sizes remember that at the top the first stitch instructions are for the small size and those in brackets are for the Medium and Large respectively. Sor with this in mind on Row 6 for example for the S size shown K0 means Knit zero ie don’t start with a knit stitch but move straight into the repeat of knit two together K2tog … (for Medium size Knit one stitch first and then move into the repeat and for the Large size Like the small size it’s Zero initial knit stitch K0 but start straight into the repeat of K2tog … hope this makes sense and doesn’t confuse you more Cheers Michele (UK)
