Turning New Leaves Garland

Introducing a garland of leaves for home décor – drape it along the mantle, over a window and even down the middle of your Thanksgiving table. Choose a gradient yarn for multi-colored leaves that change as you knit.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: 180.5″ / [458.5 cm] long

Gauge: 16 sts and 20 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st; one repeat of Leaf A and B = 10.5” [26.5 cm] and 2” [5 cm].

Materials

Medium weight yarnYarn: Knit Picks Chroma Worsted (70% Superwash Wool, 30% Nylon; 198 yards [180 meters]/100 grams): 26549 Lake Front (1 skein)

Needles: US size 8 (5.0 mm) 16” circular or DPNS

Abbreviations

cdd (center double decrease) – Slip 2 sts k-wise, k1, slip 2 sts over k1.

m1 (make 1) – With left needle, lift strand between needles from front to back, knit lifted loop through the back to twist stitch.

Special Stitches

I-cord (3 sts)

*Slide sts to the right, towards needle tip (the working yarn is at end of row). Pull yarn across back of work to first st and knit all sts; rep from * for patt.

Repeat (Leaf A followed by Leaf B) 16 more times.

Finishing

Pull yarn through. Weave in ends and block to measurements.
