Mint Chocolate Chip Bag

Stay cool this summer with an ice cream-themed bag. Inspired by mint chocolate chip ice cream, this mint-and-brown bag is perfect for anyone who has a sweet tooth. Felt this bag to add a fun textured element to this bag.

Yarn:

Medium Weight Yarn Cascade 220 Worsted (100% wool; 220 yards [201 meters]/100 grams); #9076 Mint (MC, 2 balls), #9557 Dark Chocolate (CC, 1 ball)
Needles: US size 8 (5.0 mm) straight or circular needles
Notions: Tapestry needle

Abbreviations

Inc 1 to 5: increase next stitch from 1 to 5: without taking st off left ndl, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1 all in same st then take stitch off the left hand needle.
K5tog: Knit 5 together to finish bobble.
P2tog tbl: Purl 2 together through the back loop.
M1r (knit row): Insert left needle between sts from back to front, knit through front.
M1l (knit row): Insert left needle between sts from front to back, knit through back.
M1r (purl row): Insert left needle between sts from back to front, purl through front.
M1l (purl row): Insert left needle between sts from front to back, purl through back.

Pattern Notes

The bag is made in two pieces worked from the bottom up with intarsia bobbles created using increases and decreases. The pieces are finished with a picot hem at the top edge. The handles are two I-cords worked separately. The bag and handles are felted after seaming.

Using MC CO 45 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Work from chart or from written instructions as follows:
Row 1: K1, m1r, k to last stitch, m1l, k1. (47 sts)

Using CC and 2 DPNs Co 4 sts.
*K4, slide sts to other end of needle; rep from * until cord measures 33cm.
Bind off loosely knitwise. Weave in ends.

Finishing

With right sides facing sew bag sides and base together using back stitch. Turn down picot hem and sew in place. Felt all pieces. Block to dry. Attach handles to bag. yarn ball
