How to Knit the Double Seed Stitch

Looking for a simple way to add intriguing texture to your knitted pieces? This variation of the traditional seed stitch creates larger “seeds” by stacking knit and purl stitches. It might sound complicated, but we promise it’s simple to master! Before you begin, just make sure you cast on an even number of stitches in multiples of 4 to create a beautiful project rich with texture.

I learned to knit – and forgot how to cast on. Which i learned English style. Then I learned to crochet which has a right-handed person holding the yarn in the left hand. I still struggle with knitting with the yarn in my left hand, but I’m slowly learning to do that. It feels funny to me to knit with the yarn in my lrft hand; but I’m very slowly getting into the continental style of knitting. Stitches still work the same for either style and all you have to do is listen for the knit or purl in the video commentary and not focus on what style is being used demonstrate the stitch combinations being used.

Can you show on English version of knitting? Why 99.9% of the websites are showing everything Continental way of knitting . My personal opinion in this case would be that you are only know how to knit Continental style knitting and or maybe you are not showing anything in English. because you are not interested in that style of knitting. If you don’t mind can you share your thoughts on this subject! Thank you ! Magdalena

    • Hi Magdalena, I believe this designer simply prefers Continental style and so that’s how she’s holding the yarn in this tutorial. To my knowledge, the stitches are still completed in the same way; you are simply holding the working yarn in your other hand. So hopefully video tutorials are still helpful regardless of whether you knit Continental or English style. -Dana, Editor
