Victorian Cables Collar

Go back in time with this cozy knitted collar. The traveling cables in this pattern combine with garter stitch stripes to create a bold statement piece that’s perfect for cold weather.

Size: One size fits most 6” wide by 21” long

Gauge: 16 sts and 22 rows = 4” [10 cm] in pattern before blocking

Materials

Yarn: Galler Yarns Asana Bulky (50% alpaca, 50% wool; 140 yards [128 meters]/100 grams): #401 Honey Beige (MC, 1 ball), #401 Pine Forrest (CC, 1 ball)
Needles: US size 11 (8.0 mm) circular needles (24”)
Notions: Cable needle, tapestry needle, one 3/4” sew through button, blocking wires (optional)

Abbreviations

C4B (4-st right-leaning cable): Sl 1 st to cn, hold to back, k3, k1 from cn.
C5B (5-st right-leaning cable): Sl 2 sts to cn, hold to back, k3, k2 from cn.
C4F (4-st left-leaning cable): Sl 3 sts to cn, hold to front, k1, k3 from cn.
C5F (5-st left-leaning cable): Sl 3 sts to cn, hold to front, k2, k3 from cn.
C6F (6-st left-leaning cable): Sl 3 sts to cn, hold to front, k3, k3 from cn.

Edging

Long Edge
With MC and RS facing, pick up 1 st in each row along long edge.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: Repeat Row 1.
Row 3: BO in knit.

Short Edge and Button Hole
With MC and RS facing, pick up 90 sts evenly spaced along opposite long edge.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: Knit to last 6 sts. Yo, k2tog, k4.
Row 3: BO in knit.

Finishing

With tapestry needle and yarn, sew button to short edge so it will line up with button hole. Weave in ends with tapestry needle.
Spray block, using blocking wires or pins to gently accentuate curve of collar and lengthen long edge. yarn ball
