Shawl You’ll Ever Need

This lovely lacy shawl is knit left to right using a relaxing, easy-to-memorize lace stitch pattern. As you knit, you will increase from the cast on end until you reach the body of the shawl. One end of the piece includes a pouch-like shape designed to fit around one shoulder to aid in easy wear. See our photo tutorial below for tips on how to style this project!

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: 15” tall throughout the body of the shawl x 80” long.

The shoulder “pouch” measures approximately 9” from beginning of short row section to the bind off edge.

Gauge: 30 sts and 22 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Fir Cone Lace Stitch after wet blocking.

Yarn:

Super fine weight yarn Dream in Color Jilly (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 440 yards [402 meters]/113 grams): Rosy, 2 skeins

Needles: US size 3 (3.25 mm): straight or circular

Notions: Markers; tapestry needle

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked flat, increasing from cast-on end to body of shawl. Short rows are used to when worn.

This pattern uses a modified version of Barbara Walker’s Fir Cone Lace Stitch. The original stitch can be found in Walker’s first Treasury of Knitting Patterns.
