Band Together Raglan Pullover

This simple raglan pullover is accented with slip stitch edgings to complete the look. Pair with leggings or shorts for warmer days!

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: 2 (4, 6, 8, 10) Finished Chest Circumference 23.25 (24.5, 26.5, 28.75, 30.5)” / [59 (62, 67.5, 73, 77.5) cm].

1-2” / [2.5-5 cm] of positive ease recommended.

Gauge: 20 sts and 26 rnds = 4” [10 cm] in St st with smaller needle

19 sts and 42 rnds = 4” [10 cm] in Slipped St with larger needle.

Materials

Yarn: Knit Picks Comfy Sport (75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic; 136 yards [124 meters]/50 grams): 24791 Whisker (MC, 3 (3, 3, 3, 4) skeins), 24440 Marlin (CC, 1 (1, 1, 2, 2) skeins)

Needles: US size 6 (4 mm) DPNs, US size 5 (3.25 mm) 29” circular and DPNs

Notions: Markers, scrap yarn, tapestry needle

Abbreviations

M1L (make 1 left) – With left needle, lift strand between needles from front to back, knit lifted loop through the back to twist stitch (left leaning increase).

M1R (make 1 right) – With left needle, lift strand between needles from back to front, knit lifted loop through the front to twist stitch (right leaning increase).

Slipped Stitch (worked over an even number of sts)

Rnd 1: Knit.

Rnd 2: Purl.

Rnd 3: *Sl st p-wise, wyib, k1; rep from * to end.

Rnd 4: *Sl st p-wise, wyib, p1; rep from * to end.

Rep Rnds 1-4 for patt.

Pattern Notes

Raglan is worked from the top down. The front neck is shaped by CO sts at the end of each row before joining to work in the rnd. The Yoke is shaped with raglan increases and then the body increases and sleeve increases are worked at differing rates according to size.

When the Yoke is completed, the sleeve sts are placed on scrap yarn and the body is worked in the rnd.

Sleeves are worked top down in the rnd. CC is used for the sleeve cuff and body edging.

Divide Sleeves and Body

Remove m, knit to m, place 36 (38, 44, 46, 50) Sleeve sts to holder, CO 4 sts, knit to m, place 36 (38, 44, 46, 50) Sleeve sts to holder, CO 2 sts, pm for beg of rnd, CO 2 sts. (116 (124, 132, 144, 152) sts).

Knit to end.

Work even until piece meas 6 (7, 8, 9, 10)” / [15 (18, 20.5, 23, 25.5) cm] from armhole.

Break MC.

Edging

Join CC, work Slipped St patt until piece measures 8.5 (9.5, 10.5, 11.5, 12)” / [21.5 (24, 26.5, 29, 30.5) cm] from Armhole, ending with Rnd 2 of Slipped St patt.

BO in knit.

Sleeves

Transfer Sleeve sts to smaller DPNs.

With MC, starting on the RS and the center of the underarm CO, pick up and knit 2 sts, k36 (38, 44, 46, 50) Sleeve sts, pick up and knit 2 sts from underarm CO. Pm and join to work in the rnd, being careful not to twist work. (40 (42, 48, 50, 54) sts)

Work even for 6 rnds.

Dec Rnd: K1, ssk, work to last to 3 sts, k2tog, k1. (2 sts dec’d; 38 (40, 46, 48, 52) sts). Rep Dec Rnd 1 (1, 3, 2, 4) more time(s) every 31st (44th, 16th, 28th, 15th) rnd. (36 (38, 40, 44, 44) sts).

Work even until Sleeve meas 6.5 (7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5)” / [16.5 (19, 21.5, 24, 26.5) cm].

Break yarn and join CC.

Work Slipped St patt until Sleeve meas 8 (10, 11, 12, 13)” / [20.5 (25.5, 28, 30.5, 33) cm], ending with Rnd 2 of patt.

BO in knit.

Neckband

With MC and larger DPNs, starting at the beg of Back BO, pick up and knit 24 (24, 24, 26, 26) sts from Back CO, 4 (4, 6, 6, 8) sts from Sleeve CO, 32 (32, 32, 34, 34) sts from Front, and 4 (4, 6, 6, 8) sts from Sleeve CO. Join to work in rnd. (64 (64, 68, 72, 76) sts). Knit for 4 rnds.

Finishing

Weave in ends.
