Materials

Lace weight yarnYarn: Knit Picks Aloft (Super Kid Mohair Yarn; 246 yards [225 meters]/25 grams): 25208 Sky (MC, 1 (1, 1, 1, 2, 2) balls), 25754 Daisy (CC1, 1 (1, 1, 1, 2, 2,) balls), 25757 Koi (CC2,1 (1, 1, 1, 2, 2) balls)

Needles: US size 8 (5.0 mm) 32″ circular and DPNs; US size 7 (4.5 mm) 24″ for neckline Garter Rib.

Notions: Markers, stitch holders, waste yarn for provisional cast-on, tapestry needle.

Special Stitches

St st (worked flat)

Row 1 (RS): Knit.

Row 2 (WS): Purl.

St st (worked in the rnd)

Knit every round.

Garter Stitch (worked in the rnd)

Rnd1 (RS): Knit.

Rnd 2 (RS): Purl.

Rep these 2 rnds for desired length.

K1, P1 Rib

Rnd 1: *K1, P1; rep from * around.

Rep Rnd 1 for patt.

Backwards Loop Cast-On

*Place thumb (or finger) behind yarn. Wrap yarn around left thumb from front to back. Push tip of needle from bottom to top under yarn on thumb. Slip loop from thumb onto RH needle. Pull gently to snug up the loop on the needle to tighten; rep from * for desired number of sts.

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked flat in rows from the top down then join to work in the round.

Choose a size that is 4-8″ greater than your bust size from the finished sizes.

Front Left Shoulder

With larger needles, MC, and provisionally CO method, CO 26 (30, 32, 34, 36, 38) sts.

Work flat back and forth in St st until piece meas 1.5 (1.5, 2, 2, 2.5, 2.5)”.

Using Backward Loop Cast-On method, CO 1 st at end of WS 2 (2, 3, 3, 3, 3) times, CO 2 sts one time, then CO 3 sts once more for Neckline. Break yarn. (7 (7, 8, 8, 8, 8) sts inc’d; 33 (37, 40, 42, 44, 46) sts)

Place sts on stitch holder and work Front Right Shoulder as follows:

Front Right Shoulder

Work as for Front Left Shoulder until piece meas 1.5 (1.5, 2, 2, 2.5, 2.5)”.

Using Backward Loop Cast-On method, CO 1 st at end of RS 2 (2, 3, 3, 3, 3) times, CO 2 sts one time, then CO 3 sts once more for Neckline. Break yarn. (7 (7, 8, 8, 8, 8) sts inc’d; 33 (37, 40, 42, 44, 46) sts)

Next Row(WS): P to end.

Next Row (RS): K to end, CO 19 (21, 25, 31, 37, 38) sts, work the sts from Front Left Shoulder, joining both the front halves. 85 (95, 105, 115, 125, 130) sts.

Work flat back and forth in St st until piece meas 6.5 (6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5)”.

Break Yarn.

Back

With RS of Front Left facing you, unravel the Provisional CO from Front Left Shoulder, place live sts on DPN and work the next 26 (30, 32, 34, 36, 38) sts with larger circular needles.

At the end of row, with Backward Loop Cast-On method, CO 33 (35, 41, 47, 53, 54) sts, unravel the Front Right Shoulder sts, place on DPN and work sts to end. 85 (95, 105, 115, 125, 130) sts

Work flat back and forth until piece meas 6.5 (6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5)” from CO edge, ending on WS row.

Body

Join Front and Back pieces to work in the rnd

Next Row (RS): Work next 85 (95, 105, 115, 125, 130) sts, place marker for beg of rnd, work across Front 85 (95, 105, 115, 125, 130) sts, joining both Back and Front pieces. 170 (190, 210, 230, 250, 260) sts

Break MC, join CC1.

Work in St st in rnds until piece meas 6.75 (7, 7, 7, 7, 7.5) from underarm.

Break CC1. Join CC2 and cont in St st until piece meas 12.5 (13, 13, 13, 13, 13.5)” from underarm.

Work in K1, P1 Rib for next 1” or until piece meas 13.5 (14, 14, 14, 14, 14.5)” from underarm. Loosely BO all sts.

Sleeves

Note: Each sleeve is worked in the rnd from the underarm on a set of DPNs. You will work 2 sleeves separately.

With MC and DPNs, starting at the underarm, pick up 60 (64, 64, 72, 78, 84) sts evenly around the armhole, PM and join to work in the rnd.

Work in St st in the rnd until piece meas 3.5″ from underarm. Break MC.

Join CC1 and cont in St st until piece meas 7″ from underarm. Break CC1.

Join CC2 and cont in St st until piece meas 10.75″ from underarm.

Next Rnd (Dec): *K2 (2, 2, 1, 1, 1), k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd. 45 (48, 48, 48, 52, 56) sts on needles.

Knit 1 rnd.

Loosely BO all sts.

Neckline Ribbing

Starting at the mid-back with RS facing, pick up and knit 2 for every 3 sts.

Work 4 rnds in Garter Stitch (2 garter ridges)

Next Rnd: BO all sts, being careful not to BO too tightly.

Finishing

Weave in all loose ends.

Gently block garment.
