Skill Level: Easy

Size: About 6” wide x 21” circumference (exact size to be determined by knitter).

Gauge: 24 sts and 32 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st, exact gauge not important

Materials

Super fine weight yarnYarn: Knit Picks Capretta Superwash (80% Superwash Fine Merino Wool, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon; 230 yards [210 meters]/50 grams): Moonstone (1 skein)

Needles: US size 6 (4.0 mm) straight or circular

Notions: Tapestry needle, waste yarn for provisional cast on (optional), spare needle for 3-needle BO (optional)

Pattern

CO 36 sts normally for sewing or work a provisional CO if 3-needle bind-off or Kitchener stitch will be used.

Work in St st (knit all sts on RS rows and purl all sts on WS rows) until piece meas about 20” or about 1” shorter than head circumference.

BO if sewing or leave as live sts if using other joining methods.

Finishing

Remove provisional cast on yarn if used.

Fold headband in half lengthwise so the corners marked A meet and join towards the center with desired technique. Leave the center 4 sts un-joined and bind these off if not already BO.

If the sts are still live, string yarn through the sts on side B to prevent raveling.

Pull half of side B though the opening in side A, join in the same manner as side A.

Weave in ends.
