Emeline Cashmere Blend Scarf

Emeline is a wonderful scarf that is easy to make, but still unique. Worked lengthwise in a fine wool/cashmere/nylon blend, this special project makes a wonderful gift — for yourself or for a friend.

Size: 54” / [137 cm] long x 5″ / [13 cm] wide

Gauge: 22 sts and 40 ridges= 4” [10 cm] in garter st after wet blocking

Materials

Super fine weight yarnYarn: Knit Picks Capretta (80% Superwash Fine Merino Wool, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon; 230 yards [210 meters]/50 grams): 27636 Sage Brush (1 ball)

Needles: US size 4 (3.5 mm) straight

Notions: Markers, tapestry needle

Abbreviations

Sl1wyib: Slip 1 with yarn in back

Sl1wyif: Slip 1 with yarn in front

Pattern

CO 300 sts.

Work 4 rows of garter stitch.

Row 5 (WS): Knit.

Rows 6-7: K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.

Row 8: K5, *sl1wyib, k2; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.

Row 9: K3, p3, *sl1wyif, p2; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.

Row 10: K5, *drop the slipped st off needle to front of work, k2, pick up the dropped st and knit it; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.

Rows 11 and 13: K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.

Row 12: K5, *yo, k2tog, k1; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.

Row 14: K7, *sl1wyib, k2; rep from * to last 5 sts, sl1wyib, k4.

Row 15: K3, p1, *sl1wyif, p2; rep from * to last 5 sts, p2, k3.

Row 16 (RS): K5, *sl2wyib, drop the slipped st off the needle, to front of work, move the 2 slipped sts back onto left-hand needle, pick up the dropped st and knit it, k2; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.

Rep Rows 5-16, 3 times.

Work 4 rows of garter stitch.

BO all sts loosely.

Finishing

Weave in all ends.

Block the scarf to size.
