Dear Knitter,

Welcome to Elemental Knitting, a captivating collection of patterns that harness the essence of the natural world through the artistry of knitting. Within this collection, you will embark on a journey that explores the fundamental elements—Water, Earth, Fire, and Air—transformed into exquisite garments and accessories.

Each pattern in this collection is a testament to the beauty and power of nature, translated into stitches, textures, and colors. From the fluidity of Water to the solidity of Earth, from the warmth of Fire to the freedom of Air, these elemental forces inspire us, guiding our hands as we knit pieces that reflect their essence.

Whether you’re drawn to the gentle lapping of waves on the shore, the rich soil beneath your feet, the flickering flames of a hearth, or the whispering breeze through the trees, there’s something in this collection for you. Each pattern is a tribute to the elements that shape our world, inviting you to explore their beauty and mystery through your own creative expression.

Here are just a few of the projects waiting for you:

Let the sun shine down with this fun shawl that’s as fun to wear as it is to make. Self-striping yarn creates interest without the hassle of changing colors.

An abstract landscape painting in beautiful earth tones decorates the front of Illianna, which is designed with a loose, relaxed fit, lush turtleneck and modified drop-shoulder shape. The hems and turtleneck are worked in double ribbing and the colorwork of the front is made with the intarsia method, with the back and sleeves in stockinette stitch. The sweater is worked flat in pieces from the bottom up and sewn together. We can’t wait to see your versions if this incredible piece!

Peaks and Valleys Shawl

The Peaks and Valleys Shawl boasts an Intarsia landscape scene, artfully repeated three times across its width to craft a stunning statement piece. The abstract landscape incorporates eight colors, providing the flexibility to explore various color palettes. Adaptations for a table runner or pillow are seamless by working fewer pattern repeats. The Garter edges are neatly finished with applied twisted fringe. Knit with yarn made from 100 percent recycled wool, this shawl is not only visually striking but also environmentally conscious.
