2 (2, 2, 4)” positive ease recommended.

Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st with smaller needles

18 sts and 32 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Scallop Pattern with larger needles, blocked

Materials

Yarn:

Fine weight yarn Classic Elite Yarns Firefly (75% Viscose, 25% Linen; 155 yards [142 meters]/50 grams): #4774 Parakeet, 6 (6, 7, 8) balls

Needles: US size 5 (3.75mm): 16” and 24” circular; US size 7 (4.5mm): 26” circular

Notions: Tapestry needle; stitch markers; stitch holders

Abbreviations

M1 (Make 1): Make a backwards loop and place on RH needle.

CDD (Centered Double Decrease): Sl 2 sts tog knitwise to RH needle, knit next st, pass 2 sl sts over knit st. Center st will lie on top of other 2 sts.

Special Stitches

Scallop Pattern (multiple of 11 sts)

Rnd 1: Purl.

Rnd 2: *(K2tog) twice, yo, (k1, yo) 3 times, (ssk) twice; rep from * around.

Rnd 3:  Knit.

Rnd 4: Rep Rnd 2.

Rnd 5: *P2, k7, p2; rep from * around.

Rnd 6: Knit.

Rnd 7: Rep Rnd 5.

Rnds 8-9: Knit.

Rnd 10: *K3, p5, k3; rep from * around.

Rnds 11-12: Knit.

Rep Rnds 1-12 for patt.

Pattern Notes

Body is worked circular to underarm, then divided at the underarms and worked in rows.

Neck decreases are worked 1 st in from edge.

As this garment is reversible, there is no true Front or Back. We will call them Side A and Side B.

Sleeve Inc Row (RS): K1, M1, (worked to marked st and sl purlwise) twice, k to last st, M1, k1.

Pattern

Body

With larger needles, CO 187 (198, 209, 231) sts, join without twisting, placing marker between first and last st.

(Purl 1 rnd, knit 1 rnd) 2 times.

Work even in Scallop Pattern until body meas approximately 14½” from CO, ending with Rnd 1 of patt.

Change to smaller needle.

Begin Yoke

Knit 1 rnd, dec 7 (8, 9, 11) sts evenly – 180 (190, 200, 220) sts.

Purl 1 rnd, knit 1 rnd, purl 1 rnd.

Divide for Side A (V-Neck) and Side B (Scoop Neck)

Next Rnd: K90 (95, 100, 110) sts and place on holder, knit to end of rnd.

Mark 10th (10th, 11th, 15th) st from each end on remaining sts. These will be ‘seam’ sts. Work back and forth in rows and St st from this point.

On every RS row, inc 1 st each end 24 (26, 28, 30) times, AT THE SAME TIME sl marked sts purlwise (see pattern notes).

Purl all WS rows.

Work even until piece meas 2 (2½, 3, 3½)” above last Garter St rnd, ending with a WS row.

Shape V-Neck

Place marker between (in, between, between) center st(s).

Next Row (RS): Knit to marker (Size Medium only: Place marked st on holder), join second ball of yarn and work to end of row.

Working on both sides of neck with separate balls of yarn, dec 1 st each side of neck every RS row 13 (13, 14, 15) times.

When Neck decreases are complete, work Neck even and continue with established sleeve increases until Sleeve meas 7 (7½, 8, 8½)” above last Garter St rnd – 60 (63, 70, 74) sts on each side of neck.

BO all sts.

Side B (Scoop Neck)

Sl sts from holder to smaller needle.

With WS facing, join yarn at underarm.

Work as for Side A until piece meas 3 (3½, 4, 4½)” above last Garter St rnd, ending with a WS row.

Shape Scoop Neck

Mark center 12 (13, 14, 14) sts.

Next Row (RS): Knit to marker, join second ball of yarn and BO marked sts, knit to end of rnd.

Working on both sides of neck with separate balls of yarn, BO 2 sts at each neck edge twice.

Dec 1 st each side of neck every RS row 3 (3, 3, 4) times.

When Neck decreases are complete, work Neck even and continue with established sleeve increases until Sleeve meas 7 (7½, 8, 8½)” above last Garter St rnd – 60 (63, 70, 74) sts on each side of neck.

BO all sts.

Finishing

Sew shoulder and sleeve top seams.

Sleeve Edgings

With RS facing, join yarn at underarm.

Pick up and knit 1 st in every row around armhole. Place marker between first and last st.

(Purl 1 rnd, knit 1 rnd) twice.

BO all sts purlwise.

Neck Edging

With RS facing, join yarn at shoulder seam.

Pick up and knit 1 st in each st or row around entire neckline. Place marker between first and last st.

*Purl 1 rnd.

 

Size Small (Large, Extra-Large) only

Next Rnd: Knit to 2 sts before marker, k2tog, sm, ssk, knit to end of rnd.

Rep from * once more.

BO all sts purlwise.

 

Size Medium only

Next Rnd: Knit to 1 st before marker, CDD, knit to end of rnd.

Rep from * once more.

BO all sts purlwise.
