  • I am a hand & machine knitter and I want to knit this great looking ruana – love the stripes! It looks to me that this sample was machine knit with a 3 needle bind off at the shoulder. Thus having 3 pieces and no center back seam. Could you please send me the machine knitting instructions? Was it knit on a standard machine?

Thank you – I plan to knit this ruana this weekend.

    Hello,
As you guessed it the ruanna was worked side-to-side on a standard knitting machine. The front and back pieces are worked separately, but were not joined with 3-needle bind off at the shoulders as there are no live stitches. They are joined using mattress stitch. I have worked the back in 2 pieces and joined them with 3-needle bind off.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Hope you enjoy knitting it on your machine this weekend.
