Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked in the round from the hem up. The length of the skirt is easily customizable and the skirt can be tried on as you knit it. Please note that lengthening the skirt will affect the amount of yarn required to complete the project.

Choose the circumference that measures 0-6” less than the wearer’s hip measurement, depending on desired fit. Elastic is used to ensure the waistband is adaptable to multiple waist measurements.

Pattern
Picot Hem

CO 121 (141, 161, 181, 201, 221, 241, 261) sts, leaving a tail that is two times the circumference of the skirt.  Place marker and join to work in the round, being careful not to twist stitches.

Rnds 1-4: Knit all sts.
Rnd 5 (turning rnd): K1, *yo, k2tog, rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnds 6-9: Knit all sts.

Work in Pattern Stitch continuously, ignoring beginning of round marker, until skirt measures 16.25 (16.75, 17.25, 17.75, 18.25, 19.25, 20.25, 21.25)” or desired length from CO edge.

Waist

Rnd 1: K2tog, k1, p2, *k2, p2; rep from * to end of rnd. (1 st dec’d)
Rnd 2: *K2, p2; rep from * to end of rnd.

Rep Rnd 2 until ribbing measures 3.5”.

Finishing

Bind off loosely, leaving a tail twice as long as the circumference of the skirt. Turn skirt inside out. Fold waistband in half toward wrong side of skirt and use tail from bind off to sew edge in place using whip-stitch, leaving approximately 2” open to allow for the elastic to be inserted.

Attach safety pin to one end of the elastic and insert into waistband through un-sewn opening. Feed the elastic through. Pin ends of elastic together and try the skirt on. Adjust the length of the elastic as necessary. Sew the ends of the elastic together using thread. Sew remaining 2” of waistband closed.

With skirt inside out, fold picot hem toward wrong side of skirt and use cast-on tail to sew hem in place using whip-stitch.

Weave in ends and block skirt.

I am confused on raverly it mentions a picot hem and a link to here. However, she doesn’t mention a picot hem is that only when the user buys the pattern and not as a subscriber to ilikeknitting.
