Magnolia Tunic

Worked from the bottom up, this stunning tunic is worked flat in two pieces featuring hems of differing lengths to add a fun fair. Dress it up or down by pairing it with your favorite leggings or jeans. This is a spring must have!

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: Finished Bust Size 35.5 (39.5, 43, 47, 51.5, 55.5, 59.5, 63)” 1-1.5” of positive ease recommended. Shown in size 35.5”

Gauge: 23.25 sts and 27.5 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking

Materials

Yarn: Knit Picks Comfy Sport Yarn (75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic; 136 yards [345 meters]/50 grams): 24429 Ivory (MC, 7 (7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 11, 12) balls), 25765 Zinnia (CC, 1 ball).

Needles: US size 4 (3.5 mm) 24” or longer circular

Notions: Markers, removable markers, stitch holders or waste yarn, tapestry needle, row counter (recommended).

Special Stitches

Sewn BO technique

Cut the working yarn to about 3 times as long as your finished piece of knitting. Thread that yarn onto blunt needle. *Pass the yarn needle through the first two sts from right to left. Pass the yarn needle through the first st on the knitting needle from left to right. Drop the first st off the knitting needle.* Repeat until one st remains. Sew through this last st from right to left.

W&T (Wrap and Turn)

Sl next st with yarn in front (wyif) for RS rows or with yarn in back (wyib) for WS rows. Return yarn to back (front), PM on left needle and return the slipped st to left needle, turn.

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked flat in two pieces from the bottom up. Back panel is longer than Front. The side seams begin from the end of the Lace Hem up, forming slits.

Shoulder Shaping

Cont to work in patt, BO 12 (12, 12, 12, 12, 13, 14,15) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. (57 (59, 61, 63, 65, 65, 69, 73) sts)

Transfer remaining Back Neck sts onto waste yarn or stitch holder.

Finishing

Block Back and Front to measurements. Join Shoulders.

Neckline Trim

With CC and RS facing, beg at Back Neckline center, K all Neck sts.

Cont working in the rnd.

Next Rnd: Purl.

BO all neck sts with Sewn BO technique.

Armhole Trim

With CC and RS facing, k10 (13, 13, 18, 19, 22, 27, 27) underarm live sts, pick up and k35 (35, 38, 38, 39, 39, 36, 39) sts up to the shoulder seam, pick up and k 1 st into the seam, pick up and k35 (35, 38, 38, 39, 39, 36, 39) sts down from the shoulder seam, k10 (13, 13, 18, 19, 22, 27, 27) underarm live sts. (91 (97, 103, 113, 117, 123, 127, 133) sts)

Next Row (WS): Knit.

BO all sts.

Seam the sides, leaving lace borders unseamed.

Weave in all yarn ends. Block piece once more, if desired.
