Aruba Tee

This design is a simple, lightweight top that can be worn on its own or over a swimsuit for a fun, cute cover up.

2-3” positive ease recommended

Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows = 4” [10cm] in lace pattern blocked.

Materials

Yarn: Garnstudio Drops Belle (53% Cotton, 33% Viscose, 14% Linen; 131 yards [120 meters] /50 grams): Shade Cherry (4 (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) balls).

Needles: US size 6 (4.0 mm) straight

Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch holders or waste yarn, spare needle for bind off.

Special Stitches

Lace pattern

Row 1 (RS): *P1, yo, sk2p, yo; rep from * to last st, p1.

Row 2 (WS): P2, *k1, p3; rep from* to last 3 sts, k1, p2.

Row 3: K2, *p1, k3; rep from * to last 3 sts, p1, k2.

Row 4: Rep Row 2.

Row 5: K2tog, yo, *p1, yo, sk2p, yo; rep from * to last 3 sts, p1, yo, ssk.

Row 6: *K1, p3; rep from * to last st, k1.

Row 7: P1, *k3, p1; rep from * to end.

Row 8: Rep Row 6.

Rep Rows 1-8 for patt.

3-Needle BO method

Hold the needles so that the right sides of your knitting are facing inwards, using the spare needle, *knit the first stitch of both needles together, knit the next stitch on both needles together, lift the first stitch on your right needle over the second stitch; rep from * to end.

Lower Body

Knit 6 rows.

Next Row (RS): K1, work Lace Pattern to last st, k1.

Next Row (WS): P1, work Lace Pattern to last st, p1.

Rep these 2 rows until work meas 10 (10, 11, 11.5, 12, 13, 13)”, ending on a WS row.

Upper Body

Row 1 (RS): CO 8 (8, 8, 12, 12, 12, 12) sts, k across CO sts, work in Lace Pattern to last st, k1. (91 (99, 111, 123, 135, 143, 155) sts)

Row 2 (WS): CO 8 (8, 8, 12, 12, 12, 12) sts, k across CO sts, work in Lace Pattern to last 5 sts, k5. (99 (107, 119, 135, 147, 155, 167) sts)

Row 3: K5, work in Lace Pattern to last 5 sts, k5.

Rep Row 3 (both RS and WS rows) until work meas 6 (6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 9)” from Sleeve CO edge, ending on a RS Row 1 or Row 5.

Knit 5 rows.

Next Row (RS): K5 and place on holder, BO 19 (22, 25, 32, 36, 37, 42) sts, k4 (4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12) and place those 5 (5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13) sts on holder for shoulder, BO 41 (43, 45, 45, 45, 47, 47) sts, k4 (4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12) and place those 5 (5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13) sts on holder for other shoulder, BO 19 (22, 25, 32, 36, 37, 42) sts, k to end and place those 5 sts on holder.

Front

Work as for Back.

Left Shoulder

With WS facing, return held 5 (5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13) Left Front Shoulder sts to needle and re-join yarn.

Knit 4 rows, break yarn.

With WS facing, return held 5 (5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13) Left Back Shoulder sts to needle and re-join yarn.

Knit 4 rows.

With wrong sides facing outward, join the shoulder sts using the 3-Needle BO method.

Right Shoulder

Work as for Left Shoulder.

Finishing

Join the held sts of both Sleeve tops using the 3-Needle BO method.

Starting at the lower edge, join both side and underarm seams.

Weave in all ends. Wet block to measurements.
