Malibu Shore Scarf

Get beach ready with this delicate scarf that feels as light as air! Featuring two spirals down the center of the scarf, you’ll need two larger needles to create the flouncy edge. It makes the perfect design for an introduction to lace!

Skill Level: Easy

Size: 8” / [20cm] x 40 / [101 cm]

Gauge: 12 sts and 20 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking.

Lace weight yarnYarn: Townhouse Yarns Chatham Lace (80% Merino, 20% Silk; 1312 yards [1200 meters]/100 grams): Laguna Beach (0.5 skein).

Needles: US size 6 (4 mm) 24” straight, US size 3 (3.25 mm) 24” straight

Special Stitches

Stitch Pattern (worked over 47 sts)

Row 1 (RS): K12, p1, yo, k4, ssk, k4, p1, k4, k2tog, k4, yo, p1, k9, sl3 wyib.

Row 2 and all WS rows:,P12, (k1, p10) twice, k1, p9, sl3 wyif.

Row 3: K12, p1, k1, yo, k4, ssk, k3, p1, k3, k2tog, k4, yo, k1, p1, k9, sl3 wyib.

Row 5: K12, p1, k2, yo, k4, ssk, k2, p1, k2, k2tog, k4, yo, k2, p1, k9, sl3 wyib.

Row 7: K12, p1, k3, yo, k4, ssk, k1, p1, k1, k2tog, k4, yo, k3, p1, k9, sl3 wyib.

Row 9: K12, p1, k4, yo, k4, ssk, p1, k2tog, k4, yo, k4, p1, k9, sl3 wyib.

Row 10: P12, (k1, p10) twice, k1, p9, sl3 wyif.

Rep Rows 1-10 for patt.

Stretchy Bind Off

K2 sts, sl 2 sts p-wise back to LH needle, k2tog-tbl, *k1, sl 2 sts p-wise to LH needle, k2tog-tbl; rep from * until 2 sts rem, k2tog-tbl. Cut yarn and pull through last st.

Pattern

With larger needles, CO 47 sts.
Rows 1-4: Knit.

Change to smaller needles.

Work Stitch Pattern from chart or written instructions 20 times or until Scarf is 0.5” short of desired total length.

Change to larger needles.

Knit 4 rows.

BO all sts using the Stretchy Bind Off technique.

Finishing

Weave in all ends.

Block Scarf to dimensions.
