Ms. Pinky Set

Inspired by the delicate pink of freshly blooming flowers in the springtime, this fingerless mitts and hat set uses a chunky ribbing pattern and small peek-a-boos of lace to make this set a perfect fit for spring.

Gauge: Hat: 4.5 st/inch; Fingerless Mitts: 5 sts/inch

Materials

Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran (55% merino, 33% microfiber, 12% cashmere; 98 yards [90 meters]/50 grams): #300026 (3 balls)
Needles: US size 8 circular or double pointed needles for hat, US size 5 double pointed needles for fingerless mitts

Abbreviations

Psso: Pass slipped stitch over
Yo: Yarn over

Hat Pattern

Cast on 90 stitches and join to work in the round, being careful not to twist stitches.
Rnd 1: (K3, p3) around.
Rnds 2-10: Repeat rnd 1.
Rnd 11: *yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k3; repeat from * around.
Rnd 12: Knit all stitches.
Rnd 13-18: Repeat rnds 11 and 12.
Rnd 19: *k3, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo; repeat from * around.
Rnd 20: Knit all stitches.
Rnd 21-26: Repeat rnds 19 and 20.
Repeat rows 11-26.

Begin Decrease Rounds

Rnd 1: *yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k1, k2tog; repeat from * across. (75 sts)
Rnd 2: Knit all stitches.
Rnd 3: *yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k2; repeat from * across. (60 sts)
Rnd 4: (k2, k2tog) around. (45 stitches)
Rnd 5: *yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso; repeat from * across. (30 sts)
Rnd 6: K2tog across. (15 sts)
Rnd 7: *k1, k2tog; repeat from * across. (10 sts)
Rnd 8: K2tog across. (5 sts)
Cut yarn leaving a 10” tail. Thread yarn through remaining 5 stitches two times and pull tight. Weave in ends.

Fingerless Mitts Pattern

For Both Right and Left Mitts

Cast on 36 stitches and join to work in the round, being careful not to twist.
Rnd 1: (k3, p3) around.
Rnds 2-18: Repeat Round 1. On the last round place a marker after the 18th stitch.
Rnd 19: *yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k3; repeat from * to marker, slip marker, knit to end of row.
Rnd 20: Knit around.
Rnds 21-26: repeat rnds 19 and 20.
Rnd 27: *k3, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo; repeat from * to marker, sl m, knit to end.
Rnd 28: Knit around, place another stitch marker after the 20th stitch for the right mitt and the 34th stitch for the left mitt.

Right Mitt Thumb Gusset

You will now start working the thumb gussets between the 18-20th stitches for the right mitt and the 34-36th stitch for the left mitt.
Rnd 29: *k3, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo; repeat from * to first marker, sl m, kfb twice, sl m, knit to end.
Rnd 30: Knit around.
Rnd 31: *k3, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo; repeat from * to first marker, sl m, kfb, knit to one stitch before next marker, kfb, sl m, k to end.
Rnd 32: Knit around.
Rnds 33-34: Repeat rounds 31 and 32.
Rnd 35: *yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k3; repeat from * to first marker, sl m, kfb, knit to one stitch before next marker, kfb, sl m, k to end.
Rnd 36: Knit around.
Rnds 37-38: Repeat rounds 35 and 36.
Rnd 39: Repeat round 35.
Rnd 40: knit around to first marker, slip marker and then place thumb gusset stitches on a stitch holder, cast on two stitches, knit to end.

Left Mitt Thumb Gusset

Rnd 29: *k3, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo; repeat from * to first marker, sl m, knit to next marker, sl m, kfb twice.
Rnd 30: Knit around.
Rnd 31: *k3, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo; repeat from * to first marker, sl m, knit to next marker, sl m, kfb, knit to lasts stitch, kfb.
Rnd 32: Knit around.
Rnds 33-34: Repeat rounds 31 and 32.
Rnd 35: *yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k3; repeat from * to first marker, sl m, knit to next marker, sl m, kfb, knit to last stitch, kfb.
Rnd 36: Knit around.
Rnds 37-38: Repeat rounds 35 and 36.
Rnd 39: Repeat round 35.
Rnd 40: Knit around to first marker, slip marker, knit to next marker, sl m and then place thumb gusset stitches on a stitch holder, cast on two stitches.

For Both Right and Left Mitts

Rnd 41: *yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo; k3; repeat from * to first marker, knit to end.
Rnd 42: Knit around.
Rnd 43: *k3, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo; repeat from * to marker, sl m, knit to end.
Rnd 44: Knit around.
Rnds 45-50: Repeat rounds 43-44.
Rnds 51-52: Purl around (remove marker).
Rnd 53: Knit around.
Rnds 54-55: Purl around.
Bind off.

Thumb Finishing

Place the thumb stitches from the stitch holder onto the needles.
Attach yarn and pick up 4 stitches around the gap and continue to work in the round.
Purl one round.
Knit next round.
Purl one round.
Bind off.
Weave in all ends.
