Sloped BO Method

Note: This bind off forms a smooth curve and prevents “stair steps” to form on the following bind-off rows.

Work the first bind-off row as usual to define the initial part of the bind-off. Work the next row to the last st, but do not work it. Instead, turn the work so that the unworked st becomes the first st on the right-hand needle. Keeping the yarn in the back of the work, slip the first st on the left-hand needle pwise, then bind off the unworked st by lifting it over the slipped st and off the needle, as for a regular bind-off. This is your first bind-off st. Keep working in this way until you have completed all bind-off rows.

Double Twist Loop Cast On method

Note: This CO is great to add sts at the end of the row or in the case of the neck tie, CO with only one strand.

Make a slip knot with a short tail and place it on the right-hand needle. Wrap the working yarn so that it goes from the needle around the outside of the thumb and then the index finger. Use the other fingers to grasp the working yarn in the palm of your hand. Insert the tip of your needle under the strand that runs from your index finger to the palm of your hand. Take the needle tip over the top of the strand running between the thumb and the index finger and pull it back underneath the first strand. Rotate the needle tip to the left so that it comes up into the gap between the two strands wrapped around the thumb. Drop the yarn off the thumb and index finger and gently tighten the stitch on the needle.

Repeat these steps for the desired number of stitches.
