Grape Supreme Textured Sweater

Fall and winter can drag on, long and dreary, but that doesn’t mean your sweater has to match. It features a textured back, a flattering V-neck and thumbholes for extra fun. This sweater takes every little bit of techniques it can find and puts them together into one flattering wardrobe staple.

Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rows = 4” in st st on larger needles

Materials

Yarn:

Medium Weight Yarn Sweet Georgia Superwash Worsted, (100% superwash merino wool; 200 yards [182 meters]/115 grams): Grape Jelly (4 (4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6) skeins)
Needles: US size 7 (4.5 mm), 24” circular needle, US size 7 dpn(s) or your preferred needles for knitting sleeves in the round. US size 6 (4.0 mm) 24” circular needles, US size 6 dpn(s) or your preferred needles for knitting sleeves in the round
Notions: Tapestry needle, measuring tape, scissors, stitch marker

Texture Pattern

Texture Pattern is worked across back sts only. Incorporate increased sts when you have enough sts to work the pattern.

Flat

(Worked over 8 sts)
Row 1 (RS): *P1, k3; rep from * to end.
Row 2 (WS): *K1, p5, k1, p1; rep from * to end.
Row 3: *K2, p1, k3, p1, k1; rep from * to end.
Row 4: *P2, k1, p1, k1, p3; rep from * to end.

In the Round

(Worked over 8 sts)
Rnd 1: *P1, k3; rep from * to end,
Rnd 2: *K1, p1, k5, p1; rep from * to end.
Rnd 3: *K2, p1, k3, p1, k1; rep from * to end.

Pattern Notes

Sweater is knit from the top-down and is worked flat until the yoke is completed, then knit in the round. Textured pattern is worked over the back stitches only. Incorporate increased stitches into pattern when you have added enough stitches in each row for the pattern count.

Pattern

With larger needles, CO 34 (34, 36, 36, 40, 44, 48, 50) sts as follows: 1 st for Right Front, pm, 4 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6) sts for Right Sleeve, pm, 24 (24, 26, 26, 28, 32, 34, 36) sts for Back, pm, 4 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6) sts for Left Sleeve, pm, 1 st for Left Front.

Shape Raglan

Increase 8 sts this row, then every other row 20 (21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 29, 33) more times as follows:
Row 1 (RS): (Work to 1 st before m, m1L, k1, sm, k1, m1R) 4 times, knit to end.
Row 2 (WS): Purl across row, making sure to work textured pattern across Back sts.

Shape Waist

Row 1 (Dec. rnd): K1, k2tog, work to 3 sts before m, ssk, k1, sm, k1, k2tog, work to last 3 sts, ssk k1. ((4 sts decreased) 134 (140, 156, 162, 168, 186, 200, 222) sts)
Work Decrease Rnd every 6 rnds 3 times more. (122 (128, 144, 150, 156, 174, 188, 210) sts)
Work even for 5 rnds.
Inc Rnd: *K1, m1l, work to 2 sts before m, m1R, k1, sm; rep from * once. ((4 sts increased) 126 (132, 148, 154, 160, 178, 192, 214) sts)
Work Inc Rnd every 6 rnds 4 more times. (142 (148, 164, 170, 176, 194, 208, 230) sts)
Work in pattern until piece measures 14 (14, 14, 14, 16, 16, 17, 18)” from underarm, ending with Row 4 of Texture Pattern st.
Knit 1 rnd.
Switch to smaller needles.
Work K1, p1 Rib for 2”.
Bind off in pattern.

Sleeves

Move 46 (48, 50, 52, 55, 59, 66, 74) Sleeve sts to needles, pick up and knit 2 (2, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6) sts, pm, pick up and knit 2 (2, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6) sts. (50 (52, 58, 60, 63, 69, 76, 86) sts)
Work even for 4 rnds.

Work even for 6 rnds.
Dec 0 (0, 0, 0, 1, 1, 0, 0) sts across rnd.
Work even until Sleeve measures 16”.
Switch to smaller needles and work in K1, p1 rib for 3.5” or until sleeve meets the bottom of your thumb.
Work flat in K1, p1 rib for 6 rows.
Join to work in the rnd and work K1, p1 rib for 6 rnds.
Bind off in rib pattern. 

Neckband

With RS facing and using smaller 24” circular needle, pick up and knit 2 sts for every 3 rows along Right Front, 1 st for every CO st along top of Sleeves and Back, 2 sts for every 3 rows along Left Front, making sure to end with an even number of sts. Begin working K1, p1 Rib flat for 1.5”
Bind off loosely in pattern.
Sew lower right edge of neck to bottom left edge of neckline. Sew lower left edge to bottom of right neckline behind right-side edge of neckband.

Finishing

Weave in all ends. Soak and block to measurements. yarn ball
