Everly Wrap Sweater

Worked in a fingering weight wool/silk blend, this sweater is light as a feather. The waist-defining ties are seamed along with the body of the sweater.

Gauge: 22 sts and 28 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking

Super fine weight yarnYarn: Fibra Natura Whisper Lace (70% Superwash Wool, 30% Silk; 440 yards [400 meters]/50 grams): 101 Mallow, 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5) balls

Needles: US size 4 (3.5 mm) 32” circular

Special Stitches

Broken Rib (worked over an odd number of sts)

Row 1 (RS): Knit.

Row 2 (WS): *P1, k1; rep from * to last st, p1.

Rep Rows 1-2 for patt.

Sloped Bind-Off

On the row before the bind-off, slip the last stitch purlwise with yarn on front.

On the bind-off row, slip the first two stitches purlwise with yarn in back, pass the first slipped stitch over the second slipped stitch, bind off remaining stitches as usual.

Pattern Notes

This sweater is worked in pieces and seamed. Front, Back, and Sleeves are worked from the bottom up.

Right Front Wrap and Wraparound Tie are knit sideways.

CO 89 (99, 111, 121, 133, 143, 155) sts.

Work in Broken Rib until piece meas 4” from CO edge, ending with WS row.

Work in St st until piece meas 17” from CO edge, ending with WS row. Place removable m each side to indicate armholes.

Work even in St st until Armholes meas 5.5 (6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5)”, ending with WS row.

BO all sts.

Front

Work as for Back until piece meas 2.5 (3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5)” from Armhole m, ending with WS row.

Shape Neck

K38 (42, 48, 52, 58, 62, 68), attach new yarn and BO center 13 (15, 15, 17, 17, 19, 19) sts, knit to end.

Working both sides at once, using the sloped method, BO 5 sts at neck edge 1 time, 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, and 1 st 3 times. (23 (27, 33, 37, 43, 47, 53) sts)

Work even in St st until Armholes meas 6.5 (7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5)”, ending with WS row.

Sleeves

CO 47 (49, 51, 53, 55, 57, 59) sts.

Work in Broken Rib for 1.5”.

Work in St st for 2 rows.

Work in Broken Rib patt for 3.25 (4, 5, 5.75, 6.75, 7.5, 8.75)”, ending with WS row.

Shape Upper Edge

Row 1 (RS): Knit in patt to last 8 sts, k2tog, pm, knit to end. (1 st dec’d)

Dec Row (WS): Work in est’d ribbing to m, sl m, p2tog, work in est’d rib to end. (1 st dec’d)

Dec Row (RS): Knit to 2 sts before m, k2tog, sl m, knit to end. (1 st dec’d)

Cont to work a Dec Row every row 69 (69, 67, 67, 65, 65, 65) more times. (35 (39, 43, 45, 51, 53, 57) sts)

Next Row (RS): Rep Dec row.

Next Row (WS): Work even in patt to end.

Wraparound Tie

CO 27 sts (all sizes).

Work even in Broken Ribbing patt for 30.25 (32, 34.25, 36, 38.25, 40, 42.25)”.

Finishing

Block pieces to finished measurements.

Lay Right Front Wrap on top of Front piece. Treat these pieces as one when seaming.

Sew shoulder seams. Sew Sleeve seams to body between armhole markers. Sew Sleeve seams. Sew Left Side seam.

Lay Wraparound Tie on top of Back with CO edge even with lower edge of Right Front Wrap.

Sew Right Side seam.

To wear, bring Wraparound Tie around the Back and tie together with the Right Front Wrap.

Neck Edging

Pick up and knit 43 (45, 45, 47, 47, 49, 49) sts along Back Neck, 23 sts along Left Front Neck, 13 (15, 15, 17, 17, 19, 19) sts along Front Neck, and 23 sts along Right Front Neck. (102 (106, 106, 110, 110, 114, 114) sts)

Rnd 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to end.

Rnd 2: Knit.

Rnds 3-5: Rep Rnds 1-2, 1 more time, then rep Rnd 1.

BO all sts kwise.
