Cherry Striped Cardi

This cute cropped cardi features a thick-and-thin stripe pattern and raglan yoke shaping. It’s a cinch to work top down in one piece.

Materials

Yarn: Plymouth Select DK Merino Superwash (100% superwash fine merino wool; 130 yards [119 meters]/50 grams): #1110 Mystic Purple Blue (A, (4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8) balls) #1104 Firecracker (B, (3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7) balls)
Needles: US size 6 (4.0 mm), US size 7 (4.5 mm) (40″) and 16″ circular and double-pointed.
Notions: Removable markers, stitch holders or spare circular needle, tapestry needle, six 3/4″ buttons

Sleeves

With larger, shorter cir and color consistent with Stripe Sequence, work sleeves in the end as follows:
Rnd 1 (RS): Beg at center of underarm, pick up and knit 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5) sts from CO edge, pick up and knit 1 st from gap between CO and Sleeve sts, pm, pick up and knit 1 st just before Sleeve sts, knit across all Sleeve sts, pick up and knit 1 st just after Sleeve sts, pm, pick up and knit 1 st from gap between Sleeve sts and CO, pick up and knit 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5) sts from rem CO edge, pm to mark beg of rnd. Rnds 2 and 3 (dec rnds): Knit to marker, slm, k2tog, knit to 2 sts before next marker, ssk, slm, knit to beg of rnd marker. (58 (68, 74, 84, 88, 98, 104, 114) sts)
Work 3 rnds evenly. Cont in St st and stripe sequence, work a dec rnd as above on next rnd, then every 8 (6, 4, 4, 4, 2, 2, 2) rnds 4 (7, 9, 12, 13, 16, 18, 21) more times, changing to DPNs when work feels to tight on cir. (52 (56, 58, 62, 64, 68, 70, 74) sts)
Work evenly until Sleeve measures 8 (8, 8, 81/4, 81/4, 81/4, 81/2, 81/2)”. With A, work in 1 x 1 Rib for 11/2″, then bind off all sts loosely. Work other sleeve the same.

Finishing

Block piece to schematic.
Sew buttons opposite buttonholes.
