Calypso Cowl

Calypso is knitted in the round. The brim is worked in 2×2 ribbing and the main body is worked in slipped stitch pattern, working with just one color of yarn each round.

Gauge: 14 sts and 22 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking.

Yarn: Cascade Yarns 128 Superwash (100% Superwash Wool; 128 yards [117 meters]/100 grams): #875 Feather Grey (MC, 1 (2) skeins), #246 Dusty Blue (C1, 1 skein), #1944 West point Blue Heather (C2, 1 skein), #1959 Deep Saphire (C3, 1 skein).

Needle: US size 10 (6.0 mm) 16” circul

Pattern Notes

This cowl is knitted in the round.

The edge is worked in 2 x 2 Ribbing.

The main body is worked in a slipped stitch pattern, working with just one color of yarn each round. When carrying the non-working yarn on the side, twist the yarn periodically around the working yarn to prevent openings.

2 x 2 Rib (worked in the rnd over multiple of 4 sts)

Rnd 1: *K2, P2; rep from * to end of rnd.

Slipped Stitch Pattern (worked in the rnd over multiple of 4 sts)

Rnds 1-2:Knit around in MC.

Rnds 3-4:*Sl 1 in MC, k3 in C1; rep from * to the end of rnd.

Rnds 7-8:*Sl 1 in MC, k3 in C2; rep from * to the end of rnd.

Rnds 9-10:Knit around in MC.

With MC, CO 80 (120) sts. PM, being careful not to twist sts, join to begin working in the rnd.

Ribbing Edge

Rnds 56-60: Work in 2 x 2 Rib in MC.

Rnd 61: BO in 2 x 2 Rib patt.

Finishing

Weave in ends. Wash and block to measurements.
