Luna Infinity Scarf

Luna is a reversible knitting pattern that is worked in the round. Starting with a garter stitch edge, the body of the scarf is a ribbing pattern and then finished by another garter stitch edge. Make Luna as an infinity scarf or as a cowl — the choice is yours!

Skill Level: Easy

Sizes: 25 (52)” wide x 12” high.

Gauge: 7 sts and 12 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St. st after wet blocking.

Yarn: Cascade Yarns Magnum (100% Peruvian Highland Wool; 123 yards [112 meters]/250 grams): #8242 Mulberry Flurry (MC, 2 skeins), #0010 Ecru (CC, 1 skein)

Needles: US size 15 (10 mm) 24” circular
Notions: Tapestry needle, scissors, stitch marker.

Special Stitches

Ribbing Pattern (worked in the rnd over multiple of 2 sts)

Rnds 1-5: *K1, P1; rep from * to end of rnd.

Rnd 6: Purl to end of rnd.

Rnds 7-11: *P1, K1; rep from * to end of rnd.

Rnd 12: Purl to end of rnd.

Rep Rnds 1-12 for patt.

Pattern Notes

This Infinity Cowl or Scarf is knit in the round, with garter stitch edge. The pattern is reversible.

Start with garter stitch edge, work the body of the scarf in ribbing pattern, and finish it with another garter stitch edge. Small section of contrast color is added to create an interesting element for the cowl or scarf.

CO 90 sts in MC, PM, being careful not to twist sts, join to begin working in the rnd.
Rnd 1: Purl

Rnds 2-25: Work in Ribbing Pattern for 2 repeats.

Rnds 26-31: Work in Ribbing Pattern Rnds 1-6. Cut off MC. Attach CC.

Rnds 32-37: Work in Ribbing Pattern Rnds 7-12.

CO 44 sts in CC, PM, being careful not to twist sts, join to begin working in the rnd.
Rnd 1: Purl

Rnds 2-25: Work in Ribbing Pattern for 2 repeats.

Rnds 26-31: Work in Ribbing Pattern Rnds 1-6. Cut off CC. Attach MC.

Rnds 32-37: Work in Ribbing Pattern Rnds 7-12.
