Please help! I have worked this pattern and have 40 x27 inch rectangle. I think some thing is wrong could you send a graph of these sides and tell me where the seams are?

I just joined the Gold Club. I don’t understand how to get the patterns so I can knit them. Do I have to read them off my phone? Is there a way to get a printed pattern so I can see the pattern better.

40″ is the width of the Ruana. 27″ is the length (from shoulder to the bottom edge).
There is a typo in the instruction. When you repeat the pattern 8 times, you should have about 20″ (half the width of the ruana). If it is not 20″ continue until it is. My row gauge might be different than yours.

I am new to knitting, so do I want to repeat until I have 40″ or 20″?
      Thank you!

Hi Tricia, each side of the ruana is 20″. So, you need to repeat the pattern until it is 20″ and the total will be 40″.

  • What is the 40”? And what is 27”? If I repeat rows 1-20 eight times, how do I get 40”?

    Hello,
As you guessed it the ruanna was worked side-to-side on a standard knitting machine. The front and back pieces are worked separately, but were not joined with 3-needle bind off at the shoulders as there are no live stitches. They are joined using mattress stitch. I have worked the back in 2 pieces and joined them with 3-needle bind off.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Hope you enjoy knitting it on your machine this weekend.

  • I am a hand & machine knitter and I want to knit this great looking ruana – love the stripes! It looks to me that this sample was machine knit with a 3 needle bind off at the shoulder. Thus having 3 pieces and no center back seam. Could you please send me the machine knitting instructions? Was it knit on a standard machine?

Thank you – I plan to knit this ruana this weekend.
