Millie Square Scarf

Millie is knit from the center out, and the diamond shapes are a good introduction to lace because they of the way they build on the previous row. As you knit. it becomes easy to see how the design is progressing in this gorgeous project. Tie three corners in a knot to wear in a kerchief style for a timeless look you’ll love all year long.

Gauge: 22 sts and 32 rnds = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking

Fine weight yarnYarn: Cascade Yarns Llamerino (50% Baby Llama, 50% Merino Wool; 291 yards [267 meters]/100 grams): 12 Chive (2 balls)

Needles: US size 4 (3.5 mm) set of 5 DPNs, US size 4 (3.5 mm) 24” circular

Notions: Markers, tapestry needle

Pattern Notes

The pattern is worked from the centre out.

Begin on DPNs then switch to circular needles when the stitches no longer fit comfortably on the DPNs (or when they begin sliding off the ends). At this point work stitches from needle 1, pm, work stitches from needle 2, pm, work stitches from needle 3, pm, work stitches from needle 4, pm.

Continue working through the pattern, but instead of working to the end of the needle, you will work to the next marker.

With DPNs, CO 8 sts (2 sts per needle), join, being careful not to twist.

Rnd 1: *K1, yo, k1 yo; rep from * to end of rnd. (16 sts)

Rnd 2 and all even rnds: Knit.

Rnd 3: *K1, yo, k until end of needle, yo; rep from * to end of rnd. (8 sts inc’d)

Rep Rnds 2-3, 12 more times. (120 sts)

Switch to circular needles as needed and beg Diamond Motif Section.
