Gauge: 6 sts and 6 rows = 4” in St st after wet blocking
Materials
Yarn: Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyes (50% alpaca, 50% merino; 100 yards [91 meters]/100 grams): #2015 Putty (4 skeins)
Needles: US size 35 (19.0 mm) straight or circular needles (24”)
Notions: Waste yarn for provisional cast on, tapestry needle
Pattern Notes
This pattern is worked with all four strands of yarn held together. The piece is worked flat and then can either be grafted or sewn to create a cowl.

CO 22 sts using a provisional cast on.
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2 (WS): K2, p18, k2.
Rows 3-7: Knit.
Row 8 (WS): K2, p18, k2.
Rows 9-14: Repeat Rows 1-2 three more times.
Repeat Rows 1-14 three more times.
Finishing
Remove provisional cast on and graft the two ends together. Alternatively you can work a traditional cast on and use the mattress stitch to seam the two ends together. Wash and block lightly. Weave in ends and trim.
Tip: If you’ve used an untreated wool yarn (that isn’t superwash) you can needle felt your ends into your cowl.
