Santa’s Belt Pillow

This pillow is round and jolly, just like Saint Nick! It’s also a great way to get your home ready for the Christmas season.

Skill Level: Easy

Size: 20” square

Gauge: 17 sts and 24 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st

Materials

Medium weight yarnYarn: Red Heart With Love (100% Acrylic; 370 yards [338 meters]/198 grams): 1909 Holly Berry (MC, 2 balls), 1012 Black (CC1, 1 ball), 1308 Tan (CC1, 1 ball)

Needles: US size 8 (5.0 mm) 24-32” circular; US size 8 (5.0 mm) DPNs (optional)

Notions: Tapestry needle, 4 stitch markers, 22” pillow form

Pattern Notes

The completed pillow will be 20” square, but the pillow insert used is 22” square to make the pillow extra plush.

Slip marker every rnd as you come it.

Pattern

With circular needles and MC, CO 171 sts. PM and join for working in the rnd.

Rnds 1-48: Knit.

Switch to CC1.
Rnd 49: Knit.

Rnd 50: K1, *p1, k1; rep from * around.

Rnd 51: P1, *k1, p1; rep from * around.

Rnds 52-76: Rep Rnds 50-51, ending with a Rnd 50.

Switch to MC.

Rnds 77-124: Knit.

BO all sts.

Belt Buckle

With CC2, CO 68 sts onto DPNs or circular needles using the magic circle method, placing marker every 17 sts. PM and join for working in the rnd.

Rnd 1: (K1, m1, k to marker, m1, sm) 4 times. (76 sts)
Rnd 2: Knit.

Rnds 3-7: Rep Rnds 1-2, ending with Rnd 1.

BO all sts.

Finishing

Weave in all ends.

Using CC2 and a tapestry needle, sew Belt Buckle to center of front of Pillow.

Using MC and a tapestry needle, sew bottom of Pillow closed. Stuff Pillow with pillow form and sew top closed.

Weave in any remaining ends.
