It doesn’t get much more elegant than this delicate shawlette, with its ruffled edging and subtle curved shape. Wear this with a cute sundress to harness the warmth and intrigue of its namesake gem.

Gauge: 14 sts and 32 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Garter stitch, lightly blocked; One Leaf rep = 3” [7.5 cm] across and approximately 3.5” [9 cm] high.

Needles: US size 8 (5 mm): 24” / [60 cm] circular

Abbreviations

CDD Sl2 sts pwise, k1, pass slipped sts over

M1P With left needle, lift strand between needles from back to front, purl lifted loop through the front to twist st.

SSSP Sl3 sts, knit these 3 sts through the back loop.

Pattern Notes

The leaf edging is worked is both directions from a center CO. The body stitches are picked up from the edging and worked from the bottom up. The crescent shape is created with decreases and short rows.

Set-up Row 2 (WS): K10, wrap next st and turn work.

Rows 1-2: K to wrapped st, k wrap together with st, k3, k2tog, wrap next st and turn work – 2 sts dec’d.

Rows 3-4: K to wrapped st, k wrap together with st, k5, wrap next st and turn work.
