Size: Adult Medium (Large) to fit 7.5 (8.5”) hand circumference.

Shown in size Medium.

Gauge: 24 sts and 27 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Stranded Colorwork.

Materials

Medium weight yarnYarn: Malabrigo Yarn Worsted (100% Merino Wool; 210 yards [192 meters]/100 grams): MM602 Pale Khaki (MC, 1 ball), MM062 Marine (CC, 1 ball)

Needles: US size 6 (4.0 mm): DPNs or circular.

Notions: Stitch holder or waste yarn, tapestry needle.

Special Stitches

Corrugated ribbing

Rnd 1: *With MC, p2, with CC, k2; rep from * around.

Rep Rnd 1 for patt.

Pattern Notes

These mitts are worked in the round from the bottom up.

Both mittens are exactly the same.

Knit 2 mittens using the chart for your size.

Pattern

Hand

With MC, CO 48 (56) sts.

Rnd 1: *P2, k2; rep from * around.

Rnds 2-17: Work Corrugated Ribbing.

Rnds 18-76: Work Stranded Colorwork chart from right to left and from bottom to top with the following instruction notes below.

Note: On Rnd 38, slip the first 16 (16) sts pwise and transfer them to a stitch holder or waste yarn. Continue working chart.

After completing the chart, cut yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail through rem sts and pull tight.

Thumb

In the space where the thumb meets the hand, pick up 1 st in MC, pick up 1 st in CC, pick up 16 saved sts from holder, pick up 1 st in CC, pick up 1 st in MC -20 sts.

Rnds 1-16: Work the Thumb chart.

After completing the chart, cut yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail through rem sts and pull tight.

Finishing

Use yarn ends to sew up any holes where the Thumb meets the Hand.

Weave in all ends. Block.
