Materials
Yarn: Harrisville Designs Shetland (100% Pure Virgin Wool; 217 yards [199 meters]/50 grams): #54 Adobe (CC1, 2 ball), #15 Loden Blue (CC2, 2 skeins)
Needles: US size 5 (3.75 mm) 60” or longer circular
Notions: Markers, waste yarn for provisional cast-on, tapestry needle, spare needle
Special Stitches
Kitchener Stitch
Hold the two pieces of knitting parallel to one another with the wrong sides facing. Thread the working yarn with a yarn needle.
- Insert the yarn needle knitwise into the first stitch on the front knitting needle. Draw through the stitch and slip the stitch off of the front needle.
- Insert the yarn needle purlwise into the next stitch on the front knitting needle. Draw through the stitch. Leave the stitch on the needle.
- Insert the yarn needle purlwise into the first stitch on the back knitting needle. Draw through the stitch and slip the stitch off of the back needle.
- Insert the yarn needle knitwise into the next stitch on the back knitting needle. Draw through the stitch. Leave the stitch on the needle.
Rep steps 1-4 until all of your stitches have been grafted together. Even out the sewing and weave in the ends.

This pattern is worked as one piece in the round from the bottom up, beg with provisional CO, and then finished with Kitchener stich to connect ends.

Block piece.
Unravel Provisional CO sts and place all live sts of the bottom onto spare circular needle.
Fold the Cowl and connect bottom live sts with the top live sts using Kitchener stitch grafting method.
Put Cowl flat with Charts 1 colorwork on one side and with Charts 2 colorwork on another side, or any other preferred way. Block to flatten Cowl one more time.
