Fine weight yarnYarn: Knit Picks Shine Sport (60% Cotton; 40% Viscose; 110 yards [101 meters]/50 grams): 24488 Serrano (MC, 3 (3, 4, 4) balls), 24486 White (CC, 1 (1, 2, 2) balls)

Needles: US size 5 (3.75 mm) 24” circulars; US size 4 (3.5 mm) 24” circular; US size 3 (3.25 mm) 24” circular

Notions: Tapestry needle; US size F/5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook

Special Stitches

1×1 Rib

Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of row.

Rep Row 1 for patt.

Faux Plaid Knit Stripes

Working from the hem up to the bodice along the purl ditch, holding yarn on the inside with left hand and hook on the outside with right hand, insert hook under first purl bump, pull up a loop. *Insert hook under next purl bump, with your working yarn on the inside pull through loop on hook to create a slip st; rep from * all the way up the purl ditch to the last purl bump, carrying the working yarn up under the fabric. Break working yarn, leaving a long enough tail for weaving in the ends.

With largest needles and MC, CO 74 (78, 86, 92) sts.
Work in 1×1 Rib for 1”.

Row 1 (RS): Knit.

Row 2 (WS): Purl.

Rows 3-4: Rep Rows 1-2.

Switch to CC.

Rep Rows 1-2 once.

Switch to MC.

Rep Rows 1-2, 3 times.

Switch to CC.

Rep Rows 1-2 once.

Switch to MC.

Next Row (RS): K9 (11, 11, 9), p1, (k8, p1) 6 (6, 7, 8) times, k10 (12, 11, 10).

Note: The purl stitches along the RS are ditches for working the Faux Plaid Stripes later.

Next Row: P10 (12, 11, 10), (k1, p8) 6 (6, 7, 8) times, k1, p9 (11, 11, 9).

Rep last 2 rows 4 more times.

Switch to 2nd largest needles (US size 4).

Cont in est patt, repeating last 2 rows until piece meas 8 (9, 10, 11)” from CO edge.

Switch to smallest needles (US size 3).

Cont in est patt, repeating last 2 rows until piece meas 10 (11, 12, 13)” from CO edge. Do not break yarn.

Bodice

Switch to CC.

Beg with a knit row, work 2 rows in St st.

*Switch to MC.

Work 8 (10, 12, 14) row in St st.

Switch to CC.

Work 2 rows in St st.

Rep from * twice more.

BO loosely in patt.

Back

Work Back same as Front.

Straps (make 2)

With CC and largest needles, CO 22 sts.

Beg with a knit row, work in St st for 7 (7, 8, 8)”.

Finishing

Block all pieces.

Seam Front to Back.

With piece lying flat, attach Straps.

With CC, work Faux Plaid Knit Stripe along the purl ditch up the Front and Back of Skirt.

Weave in all ends.
